Jamshedpur: Deeksha Prakash of DBMS English School is living testimony to the truth that the trials and tribulations of a difficult childhood are no excuse for not excelling as an adult.
Homelessness, fathers death, absent mother- Deeksha has experienced it all. Fighting all odds, Deeksha worked hard to overcome family and financial challenges to score 95 percent marks in the ICSE class 10 exams, the results of which were declared Wednesday.
Resident of Kadma, Deekshas father Ved Prakash Mishra died in a road accident in 2007 when she was in class 4. After her fathers death the whole responsibility was on the shoulders of her mother to take care of her and studies. Deekshas mother Anita Mishra worked as a LIC agent to earn a living and also look after her daughter, while Deeksha seeing the condition of the house get more involved in studies and worked really hard to perform better in school.
A cheerful Deeksha talking to The Avenue Mail after she scored 95 percent marks said, As my mother works as a LIC agent has to travel places and it was difficult for me to stay alone in the home and concentrative on my studies. I would like to give credit to my neighbors who were very supportive all throughout and whenever my mom moved for her work my neighbors would take me to their house and there I studied most of my time, they are everything to me as they have given me more than my parents, added Deeksha.
Deeksha further said as her mother was the lone earner it was difficult to pay high tuition fees, her tuition teacher seeing her financial condition never asked for fees. She also got scholarship from her school.
I am pursuing my plus 2 from the same school with PCMB and want to become a doctor, Deeksha signed off.
