Tata Steel organizes football camp for Kolhan Girls

Jamshedpur: A six day football Camp organized by Tata Steel Rural Development Society (TSRDS) for girls from various parts of Kolhan concluded today at Tribal Culture Centre ground, Sonari. The six day camp started off on May 17 last.

A total of 37 girls who attended the Camp hail from different parts of Kolhan such as Karandih, Musabani, Sarjamdah and Chaibasa.

The football camp, first such initiative for girls from rural areas, was organized to train and hone their skills under expert football trainers. These girls were identified by TSRDS team during village level tournaments.

While seven of the participants have represented Jharkhand in national level football meet in the past, one of the participants, Laxmi Murmu, has represented at Jharkhand at Women�s National Football Championship organized by All India Football Federation in April 2014.

While interacting with the budding girl players at training Camp, Biren Bhuta, chief, CSR, Tata Steel encouraged them to continue with the sport at grass-root level.

Speaking on the occasion, he said, �Tata Steel has always endeavored to encourage sports and this football camp for girls is yet another step in this direction.�
