Debate on �Women and Law� held at Karim City College

Jamshedpur: The women�s cell of Karim City College held a debate on �Women and Law� at the college. Advocate of High Court and general secretary of NGO Nibaran Sweta Singh on the occasion spoke in detail on domestic violence and legal provisions to eradicate the problem.

Advocate of High Court RK Singh observed that laws alone cannot curb domestic violence; only greater awareness can bring about a change. It is also necessary to ensure that violation of laws do not take place, he said.

Addressing the debate social activist Anjali Bose said that the tendency to bear the violence and not reporting the incidents to legal authorities are route cause of increasing domestic violence.

Bose on the occasion spoke on various legal provisions to deal with domestic violence and shared her experience. Dr Md. Zakaria, principal of the college distributed prizes to the winners of various contests organized by the Women�s Cell on the occasion.
