DCs attend training of biometric machines, supply chain management

Jamshedpur, July 24: Digitization work of ration cards under food securuty act in Jharkhand has been completed. The installation of biometric machines will start by next month for supply management and beneficiaries to receive ration in time and in right quantity.

To inform about the whole process, a training camp was organized for DCs of all the districts in Ranchi. Deputy Commissioners along with district supply officers also received training about biometric machines operating and supply chain management.

Leaving out Deoghar, Dumka and Godda, DCs of the entire district participated in the training camp. Due to the ongoing Shrawani Mela DCs of the three districts couldn’t attend the camp.

The training camp was inaugurated by state food and civil supplies minister Saryu Rai. On the occasion he congratulated the DCs for helping in implementing the food security act all over the state and department officials for taking the digitization work on priority. He appealed the DCs to show the same response to make the ration distribution work successful through biometric machines.

The minister was apparent that the success of food security act on the ground level totally depends upon the administration were the focus is on the DC and his office.

Rai said that the department has prepared the PDS control order but it has been sent to the law department for vetting and for legal suggestions. Later the officials will get afresh statutory rights so that the beneficiaries get ration in the reasonable quantity and at the right time and also stop the rigging happening in between.  

 
Saryu Rai further said that an agency has been selected to make the supply management chain function properly under which the system is fully computerized for transporting the food grains from FCI godown to state food corporation godown and from there to the dealers.  

Like the training camp for DCs and district supply officers, same will be organized at every block were department officials, administration officials and ration shopkeepers will be imparted training on biometric system and food supply management chain.  

   
DCs have been given the responsibility of making the block level training camp successful and have been provided the full list along with the details. DCs were informed that from August to October in three phases the ration distributing system will be made fully computerized.

The work will be made fully online were internet is available, the work will be done both online and offline were internet facility is not fully available while the place where there is no internet facility the food distribution will be done offline.

From August, the ration distribution work will be made through biometric system. In the first phase from August the distribution will start at all the blocks of Ranchi, Khunti, Hazaribagh, Chatra, Jamtara districts, 14 blocks of Garwa district, seven blocks of Seraikela district and 4 blocks of Pakur.

In the second phase from September the ration distribution through  biometric in Koderma, Giridih, Dhanbad, Sahebganj, Bokaro, Lohardaga, East Singhbhum, Ramgarh, Gumla and SImdega while in the third phase from October Palamu, Latehar, West SInghbhum, Dumka, Deoghar and Godda district will see ration distribution through biometric.
