DC, SSP inspect counting center and strong room

Jamshedpur, Dec 15: Ahead of counting of the votes for the Jharkhand assembly election, district administration has beefed up the security in and around Co-operative College, the venue for the counting. The results will be declared on December 23.

The preparation for the counting at Co-operative College which is to be looked by the administration has started. On Monday DC and District Returning Officer Dr. Amitabh Kaushal along with SSP Amol V Homkar inspected the venue where he ordered the officials to have a strict check at any person or vehicle entering campus.

DC on Monday carried out inspection of the Strong Room along with other administration officials. The DC directed that section 144 of the CrPC would be strictly implemented across the area of Jamshedpur Cooperative College where EVM’s are housed.

He also instructed political party supporters not to crowd the approach road to Jamshedpur Cooperative College the Strong Room for EVMs— on the counting day (December 23).

Kaushal said that no person other than candidates, their election/ counting agents, public servants on election duty or persons authorised by Election Commission would be permitted to enter counting centres. DC also looked on to the drop gates, parking and entry gate of the college.

DC along with SSP Amol V Homkar, City SP Karthik S, DDC Dr. Lal Mohan Mahato, DTO Sanjay Kujur, SDO Prem Ranjan, DSP Jancitha Karketta and other administration officials were present. DC after inspecting gave several orders to the officials to carry out the work with utmost transparency.

DC on the occasion also ordered to vacate several houses present in the college campus fearing that some outsiders may be present there. Police force will also be present at several houses near the College to prevent any untoward incident on the result day.

DC further informed that on the directions of Election Commission of India, administration will be putting all force behind to carry out the counting day porocedure without any glitches and peacefully. DC inspected the all round security at the campus and ordered the officials to help carry out all the procedure peacefully.

“There are six Assembly segments (Ghatshila, Baharagora, Potka, Jugsalai, Jamshedpur East and Jamshedpur West) in Jamshedpur parliamentary constituency. There will be 14 counting tables in each assembly segments with an assistant returning officer (ARO) deputed for each of the segments.

Counting agents will be deputed in 14 tables and one with ARO for each assembly segment,” said the deputy commissioner. SDO has been told to make strategy for the tents to be put up by political parties on the counting day were the tents should not be covered from front.

The results will be declared on Dec 23. On the day no vehicle will be allowed inside the campus from the main gate and the road which leads to the main entrance has been ordered to keep clear.
