Seraikela: A team of district administration of Seraikela-Kharsawan led jointly by the deputy commissioner Hansraj Singh and superintendent of police Madan Mohan Lal conducted a surprise inspection of Seraikela Divisional Jail on Monday.
The raid was conducted from 5.30 am till 7.30 am. The team found razors and screw drivers from the cells. The officials also inspected the barrack and jail premises and inquired about the security arrangements.
The DC expressed dissatisfaction over the fact that the jammer installed in the jail was not working for the last several months. He said the jammer should be replaced without delay. It may be mentioned here that six jail inmates including two Naxalites had escaped from the Seraikela jail on 17th August in the year 2011.
The jail break had led the administration to start regular surprise inspection of the jail to put reins on the inmates using mobile phones from cells inside the jail.
