Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Rajeev Ranjan conducted a surprise inspection of Sadar Hospital on Monday, issuing a stern warning to health officials regarding the quality of emergency services. Accompanied by Civil Surgeon Dr. Sahir Pal, the Deputy Commissioner scrutinized several departments to ensure the facility meets administrative standards.
Focus on Blood Bank and Canteen Standards
During his review of the blood bank, Rajeev Ranjan issued specific instructions to maintain a robust supply chain.
“Ensure adequate availability and a smooth supply of blood at all times,” the Deputy Commissioner directed officials during the review.
He also turned his attention to the hospital’s kitchen and dining facilities. He stressed the need to maintain strict cleanliness and food quality for both patients and their attendants in the hospital canteen.
Improving Patient Experience
The inspection covered a wide range of critical units, including the OPD, X-ray, NICU, PICU, and operation theaters. Observing heavy crowds in the emergency ward, the Deputy Commissioner ordered the Civil Surgeon to immediately establish additional registration counters to reduce patient inconvenience.
While interacting directly with patients to gather feedback on staff behavior and treatment, the Deputy Commissioner made the administration’s stance on emergency care clear.
“Emergency services are very sensitive, so any kind of negligence would not be acceptable here,” Rajeev Ranjan stated.
Directives for Improvement
While the Deputy Commissioner termed the overall hospital system as satisfactory, he identified several areas requiring immediate improvement. He concluded the visit by reiterating that healthcare remains the top priority of the district administration.
“Providing better healthcare services remains the top priority of the administration. Any lapse at any level will invite strict action,” he warned.
