DC leads Red Cross in reaching out to Devnagar fire mishap victims

Jamshedpur: A delegation of members of the Indian Red Cross Society, East Singhbhum chapter, led by its chairman-cum-Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum, Amit Kumar, visited Devnagar at Baradwari and provided relief to the families affected by the recent fire mishap.

The help was given in both cash as well as in kind.

The DC met the fire victims and assured to help them in every possible manner. He gave a cheque of Rs 57,000 to the honorary secretary of Red Cross, Vijay Kumar Singh, for the help of the fire victims

. He said a health camp would also be organized for the affected families. Also present on the occasion was Pawan Agrawal, representative of Jamshedpur East MLA-cum-Chief Minister of Jharkhand Raghubar Das.

Red Cross volunteers distributed food and other necessaries among the victim families presently camping at Gandhi Ashram. The Red Cross vice chairman cum SDO of Dhalbhum Prabhat Kumar was also present on the occasion along with a number of district administration officials.

As many as 19 thatched houses were reduced to ashes in the fire mishap witnessed in Devnagar a couple of days back. The mishap was caused by a leak in an LPG cylinder being used for demonstration purpose in one of the houses in the densely populated locality.

two persons were injured in the incident. Property worth several lakh were gutted in the fire.
