Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum district health department here on Wednesday launched a campaign at the Government TB Hospital to examine TB patients and distribute medicines among them as per the directive of the Jharkhand government. The deputy commissioner (DC) Amit Kumar was also present on the occasion.
Health department sources said earlier the TB patients were given medicines three days a week. But now the state government has revised the medicine distribution schedule and now the TB patients are being given medicines on a daily basis after check-up.
The state government has set a target of eradicating TB from the state by 2025.
Launching the drive, the DC said the state government had taken the initiative to ensure complete and speedy treatment of all TB patients.
He inspected the hospital and directed the doctors and other staff to work with sincerity. He appealed to the people not to subject TB patients to any discrimination.
