Seraikela: The deputy commissioner (DC) of Seraikela-Kharsawan, Chhavi Ranjan, held a meeting of the Rehabilitation Committee on Thursday to discuss issues pertaining to the displacement victims of Chandil Dam, Sitarampur Dam, Suru Dam and Icha Dam.

He was told by the executive engineer of Swarnarekha Multi-purpose Project that a total of 116 villages were affected by the Chandil Dam. There are a total of 14098 families living in these villages.

Around 80 per cent of the families have been given compensation. So far 8000 families have not claimed compensation till date, the engineer told the DC.

The DC sought an updated report on the payment of compensation to the displaced families. He said notices should be sent to families who had taken the compensation amount.

Notices should also be pasted on the walls of houses belonging to the displacement victims who were unwilling to receive the notices, said the DC.
