Jamshedpur :In view the sharp price rise of onion and potatoes it was also decided to open 20 Suvidha Centers across city where onions and potatoes will be sold at only Rs 1 and Rs 2 more than the wholesale rate. There will be restriction on purchase from these centers and one person on a day can purchase only up to 3 kg.
The decision was taken after traders under the aegis of Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) on Thursday staged protest at district collectorate over large difference in wholesale and retail prices of essential commodities especially onion and potato in city.
A delegation of SCCI, led by president Suresh Sonthalia, called on the D.C. East Singhbhum, Dr. Amitabh Kaushal, regarding the continuous increase of Prices of essential commodities, specially Onion and Potato. We drew his attention that there is a huge difference of prices in the wholesale and retail market.
Since the retail market is unorganized & has no control our genuine traders from the Parsudih Market Yard should not be targeted for hoarding. We further assured him that the SCCI is equally concerned about the rising prices, and shall co operate with the administration in bringing relief to the citizens of Jamshedpur.
If required our fellow traders from the Market yard will sale these products at the retail prices in the various market, to send a message to the retail traders. The East Singhbhum district administration has decided to levy ground rents on melas, exhibitions, open air entertainment programs held at public ground in posh addresses of the city like Gopal Maidan (Bistupur), Aam Bagan ground (Sakchi), G Town ground (Bistupur), Kadma Ganesh Puja ground (Kadma), Golmuri Circus Maidan (Golmuri), Burmamines Durga Puja ground (Burmamines) and Agrico Transport Ground (Agrico).
The decision taken at the three-hour long district internal resource and revenue meeting chaired by East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Amitabh Kaushal at the district collectorate today will add to the financial expenses of the organizers in organising industrial trade fairs, exhibition, and fairs.
Additional deputy commissioner (ADC) East Singhbhum, Ganesh Kumar said that the decision was taken to add to the revenue. The administrative official also justified the levying of ground rents as the grounds were leased to Tata Steel not for commercial purposes. The deputy commissioner has directed sales tax and respective police stations to conduct raids at Sitaramdera Bus Terminus to prevent goods brought from outside states being unloaded from inter-state buses without paying sales tax duties.
The Sitaramdera bus terminus on an average caters to over 100 long-distance buses that that head for places such as Ranchi, Dhanbad, Bokaro and Hazaribagh in Jharkhand and Bengal, Odisha and Bihar. The deputy commissioner also directed to seize the long distance buses carrying goods in violation of their permits.
We want to strictly follow the act and will act against those found to be flouting norms. The violators would have to pay a fine of Rs 5000 to release the bus. The drive will continue till the owners of such buses obey the rules, said an official.
