DC appeals to health staff to help leprosy patients

Seraikela: The deputy commissioner of Seraikela-Kharsawan Ramesh Gholap appealed to the health department officials of the district to go all out to detect leprosy cases and cure them.

He said the sahiyas or other health officials finding patients suffering from leprosy will be honoured with a cash reward of Rs 250. The DC was speaking on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti celebrations at the Sadar Hospital in Seraikela here on Monday.

He paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary by garlanding his portrait on the hospital premises. Those present paid tributes to the Mahatma by observing two minutes silence.

The DC said there was need to spread greater awareness among the people on leprosy. He said the leprosy patients should be dealt with like normal patients. Among others present during the event included Dr AP Sinha, Dr Pradip, Dr Jujharu Majhi and Dr KK Sehgal.
