Jamshedpur, July 27: The KG-I toddlers of the DBMS English School took out a rally “Waste Not Want Not” on Wednesday, July 27, to generate awareness about the importance of food and why they should not be wasted.
Students moved around the school campus with placards carrying different messages on food and they shouted slogans under the guidance of their teachers. The program was undertaken to encourage everyone to value food, to recycle food or donate the leftover to the poor and needy.
The food collected during the rally was donated to the “Voice of Humanity” organization, comprising a team of Tata Steel employees and others, who distribute free food among the destitute.
The rally was flagged off at 10.30 a.m. and was witnessed by students, teachers, parents and people of the nearby locality.
Those who attended the event included Lalitha Chandrashekhar, joint chairperson, B. Chandrashekhar, joint chairperson; Lakshmi Varadharajan, secretary; Meena Mohan, joint secretary; Rajani Shekhar, school principal; Srividya Narayan, coordinator (primary school); teachers and students.
