DBMS, AIWC Academy, Chinmaya to represent IIM Jsr at National Prof. Brahm Prakash Memorial Quiz
Jamshedpur, Aug 8: DBMS English School clinched the top honours at the 13th Prof. S. N. Sinha Memorial Materials & Metallurgy Quiz (SNSM3Q-2025), hosted by the Indian Institute of Metals (IIM), Jamshedpur Chapter, at the CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory (CSIR-NML), Burmamines, on Friday. AIWC Academy of Excellence secured the first runner-up position, while Vidya Bharti Chinmaya Vidyalaya stood second runner-up.
Organised in memory of late Prof. S. N. Sinha—a visionary educator and former IIM Jamshedpur Chapter President—the event continues to provide a prestigious platform for school students to explore the fields of materials science and metallurgy. This year’s edition saw enthusiastic participation from 102 students representing 29 schools, accompanied by their teachers, reflecting growing interest in metallurgical sciences.

The event began with an inauguration by Chief Guest Dr. Sandip Ghosh Chowdhury, Director, CSIR-NML. In his address, Dr. Chowdhury stressed the vital role of materials science in national development, especially under the Make in India initiative. He urged students to consider metallurgy as a career, citing its importance in achieving sustainable technological growth, self-reliance in critical metals, and tackling global environmental challenges like greenhouse gas emissions.

Guest of Honour Prof. Ashok Kumar, Head, Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, NIT Jamshedpur, along with Dr. V. C. Srivastava, Chief Scientist, CSIR-NML, also graced the occasion.
The quiz began with a written preliminary round, from which six schools advanced to the final stage: DBMS Kadma High School, DAV Public School (Bistupur), Vidya Bharti Chinmaya Vidyalaya, AIWC Academy of Excellence, Kerala Samajam Model School, and DBMS English School.
The three winning teams—DBMS English School, AIWC Academy of Excellence, and Vidya Bharti Chinmaya Vidyalaya—will now represent the IIM Jamshedpur Chapter at the National Prof. Brahm Prakash Memorial Quiz, to be held at the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Kalpakkam, on September 12–13, 2025.
