From Tinkering Lab to Red Fort: DBMS English School earns invite to Republic Day celebrations

Jamshedpur: DBMS English School has reached a major national milestone after receiving an exclusive invitation from the Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, to take part in the 77th Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi.

The school’s Principal Rajani Shekhar, Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) in-charge Hirak Biswas, and two students — Jivaj Jayashis Sahoo (Class VIII) and Saurabh Mishra (Class X) — have been invited as special guests of Prime Minister Narendra Modi from January 23 to January 27, 2026.

Out of nearly 50 Atal Tinkering Lab schools selected from across the country, DBMS English School has emerged as one of the chosen institutions. Notably, only two schools from Jharkhand have received this honour — DBMS English School and another institution from Dhanbad.

As part of the official itinerary, the delegation will visit the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya, Rashtrapati Bhavan and the National Science Centre. The programme also includes a high-tea interaction with Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The highlight of the visit will be witnessing the Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path as special guests, in the presence of the Prime Minister.

DBMS English School was among the first institutions in the country to set up an Atal Tinkering Lab in 2017. Since then, students have developed hundreds of innovative prototypes, earning accolades at state, national and international platforms, and establishing the school as a hub for young innovation and scientific thinking.

The achievement underscores the growing impact of innovation-led education in Jharkhand and places DBMS English School firmly on the national map of excellence in STEM learning.
