DBMS College Hosts World Earth Day Program with Focus on Sustainability

 

Jamshedpur, April 22: A special program to mark World Earth Day, themed “Integration of School Science and Sustainable Development,” was organized at D.B.M.S. College under the joint aegis of Koru Foundation and the college’s Eco Club.

The event was inaugurated by chief guest Bikrant Tiwari and special guest, College President B. Chandrashekhar, by ceremonially watering plants. Addressing the gathering, Tiwari emphasized the importance of plant conservation and the need to safeguard the environment for future generations. He also highlighted key environmental concerns such as industrial pollution, air pollution from garbage burning, and the dangers of water and land pollution.

The program featured discussions on methane conservation and the harmful effects of gases released by refrigerators and air conditioners on the ozone layer. The rising global temperature and its alarming consequences were also addressed.

Teachers from 40 schools participated in the event. DBMS students Rashika Dadiyala, Natasha Mary Joseph, and Priyanka Kumari, along with non-teaching staff Kajal Mahato and Angel Munda, presented detailed insights on environmental protection through impactful PowerPoint presentations.

All participating school teachers were honoured with certificates and mementos for their contributions to environmental awareness. The event was anchored by Koru Foundation CEO Amit Sinha, with support from Deepak Soni, Garima, Rohela, and Sadaf.

Dignitaries present included College Secretary Shripriya Dharmarajan, Co-secretary  Sudha Dilip, Principal Dr. Joohi Samarpita, Vice Principal Dr. Monica Uppal, and academic and non-teaching staff. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Mosami Dutta.
