DBMS College Celebrates International Mother Language Day with Cultural Extravaganza

Jamshedpur, Feb 22: International Mother Language Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at DBMS College of Education today. The event, organized by the college’s Literacy Club, highlighted the beauty of linguistic diversity and the importance of preserving mother tongues.

The program was inaugurated with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Dr. Kalyani Kabir, Principal of Rambha College, along with Shripriya Dharmarajan, Secretary of DBMS College, Co-Secretary Sudha Dilip, Principal Dr. Joohi Samarpita, and Vice Principal Dr. Monica Uppal.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Dr. Kalyani Kabir emphasized that linguistic knowledge fosters unity among communities and strengthens cultural ties. She encouraged an open-minded acceptance of all languages to create a sense of global belonging. She also urged reflection on the significance of mother tongues and ways to preserve them.

The celebration featured students from the first semester expressing their emotions in their native languages, including English, Santhali, Telugu, Rajasthani, Malayalam, Odia, Bengali, Khortha, Maithili, and Magahi. Poems in various languages were also presented, showcasing the richness of linguistic heritage.

Under the guidance of Amrita Chaudhary, students illustrated the importance of promoting linguistic diversity. A spectacular song and dance performance by first and third-semester students paid tribute to the mother tongues of Kashmir, Punjab, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Bengal.

A special segment, “Jeevan Ke Rang Nadiyon Ke Sang,” directed by Pamela Ghosh Dutta, captivated the audience with performances in multiple Indian languages.

The program’s success was credited to the dedicated efforts of students Ankur Kumar, Rohit Poddar, Tanushree Shah, Nancy Anand and her team, Prabha Kiran, and Neetu Kumari. Faculty members Dr. Surin Bhullar Singh, Pamela Ghosh Dutta, Archana Kumari, Kanchan Tiwari, Mausami Dutta, Anjali Ganeshan, Angel Munda, Kajal Mahato, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Poonam Kumari, Abhijeet, Birendra Pandey, and Julian Anthony were also present.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Reema Rai.
