DBMS alumnus Rishi Venkat launches debut novel

Jamshedpur, Dec 23: DBMS alumnus Rishi Venkat�s debut novel, �Anathema� was launched at Golmuri Club on Monday, Dec 23. The book was jointly launched by Bushen Raina (ex-Managing director, Tinplate Company of India Ltd), Lata Raina, Tarun Daga (Managing Director, Tinplate Company of India Ltd), Varsha Daga, Vandana Mathur (Member of the Advisory Board, Hyderabad Literary Festival), Mr. and Mrs. Chandrashekhar (Chairpersons of DBMS), Rajani Shekhar (Principal, DBMS English School). The event also included a book review by Vandana Mathur.

Rishi Venkat is currently working in PwC, Singapore. He graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor�s degree in Computer Engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He did his schooling from D.B.M.S English School, in the industrial city of Jamshedpur in India. Apart from having a keen interest in writing and music, he enjoys playing cricket and squash, composing parodies and raps, and is a voracious reader. He is also the author of the poetry book, �Panorama � through the eyes of a mystic�.

The book launch party started with an introduction of the author by some of the distinguished guests. This was followed by a short presentation by the author which highlighted some of the aspects of the novel as well as threw some light on his journey as a writer in days to come.
The event was graced by the presence of distinguished guests such as Anathema is a thriller. The word �Anathema� means something or someone that is vehemently disliked. The theme of the book revolves around expunging feelings of vengeance and spreading happiness. The gist of the story has been provided below:

A much awaited vacation in Calicut in the summer of 2003 morphs into a despicable period of listlessness for Joy and his girlfriend, Kavya. Kavya�s uncle in Calicut, Dr. Hari has been deplorably murdered. The cops get into action right away with the two absconding wardens and the mentally unstable Mithun being their prime suspects. A victim of auditory hallucinations, Mithun is struggling to keep his mind at bay. With much difficulty, he manages to evade the cops and the authorities searching for him. What follows is a chain of bizzare events that eventually leads to a perplexing conundrum.
