Day 2: UCIL workers block Turamdih Mines gate

Jamshedpur, June 11: The indefinite strike called by Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL) workers continued on the second day here on Tuesday.

During the strike, the condition of one of the agitating workers deteriorated. The worker, Baliya Soren, was sitting 140 metres deep in Turamdih Mines. He was first taken to Turamdih Hospital and later to Tata Main Hospital.

Meanwhile, workers intensified their agitation by blocking Turamdih Mines gate in the evening and raising their demand for wage revision and other service benefits.

In view of the agitation, the workers prepared khichdi with 40 kg of rice, pulses and vegetables.
