Jamshedpur, Feb. 23 : The district police administration has decided to set up cyber police station at Sakchi thana premises. As per the plans an inspector rank police officer will be posted to administer the police station and later on it will be extended further.
Revealing about it, East Singhbhum senior superintendent of police, Anoop Birthray said that they had a discussion with the inspector general (Ranchi zone) Naveen Kumar Singh on Thursday in connection to the move.
” As per our plans the cyber thana will be set up latest by the first week of April. We have good number of cops with technical expertise for dealing with cybercrimes at the initial stage. But in course of time we will add more staff,” said Birthray.
As per the plans, the people falling victim to the cybercrime will not have to lodge complaint with their respective thanas, and rather such cases will be registered only in the cyber police station only.
Notably, all the 34 police stations across the district, including 17 thanas in the steel city have cyber cells which have been set up to deal with the cybercrimes.
” We need to change we changing times. Cases of cybercrime keep pouring.
Complaints of on an average five cybercrime are reported with the police stations across the steel city every day. For detection of such crime, the cyber cells set up in each of the police station get activate.
But after a cyber police station is set up in the city, all such cases can be detected effectively and within a very short period of time,” said a senior police officer. Presently, Ranchi district police has a cyber thana in the state capital.
