Cyber criminals dupe TMH Jamshedpur doctor, nurse of Rs 1.82 lakh


Jamshedpur, June 7: Cyber criminals duped Rs 1.12 lakh from a doctor of Tata Main Hospital, Dr Dharmendra Kumar and Rs 70,000 from Beldih Lake Flat resident Vilashi Kaur, a nurse at TMH. 

A complaint has been registered by the doctor at cyber thana in Bistupur. 

Dr Dharmendra claimed in the c omplaint that he stays in Circuit House Area Road Number 3 though he is a native of Delhi.  He had booked a flight ticket on May 4 but after cancelling the ticket he searched for the flight company number and found 9939121829 and on phoning in the  number he was asked to install anydesk app and give a payment of Rs 1 and soon after payment an amoiunt of Rs 48,000 was debited from phone pay app. 

When he called up phone pay customer care number he was assured the amount would be refunded and was sent a link and asked to click on it and as he clicked on the link several queires were made seeking personal information and soon thereafter an amount of 12,000 was withdrawn. 

The nurse was also cheated of Rs 70,000 and informed the police that Rs 70,000 was withdrawn in two installment from the SBI account using UPI. and she came to know only after checking the bank statatus through net banking. 

There was also withdrawal of Rs 14,000 and Rs 30,000 from the same account but the nurse felt that might be someone from family had withdrawn the amoiunt as she was busy in the Covid pandemic. 

She too lodged a report at the cyber thana in Bistupur.
