CWG medal-winning lawn balls team members meet Jharkhand CM

Ranchi, August 16: The players of Jharkhand, who played an important role in winning medals for the Indian women’s and men’s lawn balls team in the Commonwealth Games-2022, held in Birmingham met the chief minister Hemant Soren at his residence in Kanke, Ranchi on Tuesday.

During the meeting, Indian women’s lawn balls team players Roopa Rani Tirkey, Lovely Choubey and men’s lawn balls team players Dinesh Kumar, Chandan Kumar Singh and Sunil Bahadur shared their experiences of Commonwealth Games with the Chief Minister.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Hemant Soren extended his hearty congratulations and best wishes to all these players.

The Chief Minister appreciated the performance of all these players in the Commonwealth Games-2022.

The Chief Minister said that all players have played an important role in winning the prestigious medal for the country.

“Your performance in getting the medal for the Indian Lawn Balls team has made the state and the country proud. You players of Jharkhand have brought laurels to the state in the country and the world. Not only Jharkhand but the whole country is proud of you. Your success will inspire other players in the state,” said Soren.

 On the occasion, all lawn ball players appreciated the new sports policy of the state government and said that their performance was possible only due to the modern facilities and encouragement being provided by the present state government to the players here. Due to the direct appointment of the players by the state government, the enthusiasm towards sports has increased among the youth.

Secretary of Jharkhand Lawn Ball Association Madhukant Pathak was also present on the occasion.

Incidentally, India’s lawn bowls team scripted history by winning its first Commonwealth Games gold medal after defeating South Africa 17-10 in the final of the women’s event in Birmingham.

While Indian men’s fours team won the silver medal at the Commonwealth Games losing to England in the finals.
