Seraikela, April 13: The Seraikela Chhau Mahotsav held from April 3 to 12 concluded on a positive note on Tuesday. Artists from seven states including Rajasthan, Odisha, Assam, West Bengal, Gujarat and Maharashtra performed during the festival.
Kalipati Chhau grabbed maximum attention.
Amar Kumar Bauri, the State Minister for Revenue & Land Reforms, Art, Culture, Sports& Youth Affairs, said that the state government will put every effort to promote cultural and heritage tourism in Jharkhand.
The nine-day Chhau Mahotsav and Swadeshi Mela started on April 3 with all rituals and chhau performances at the local palace courtyard.
Chhau Mahotsav was organized by the State Department of Culture and Tourism at Seraikela. About a decade ago, an initiative by the local administration in association with the family members of the former king of Seraikela, Aditya Narayan Singhdeo, had led to the commencement of the chhau festival in the area.
The concluding day witnessed Seraikela chhau performances that started for the entire night and got over in the morning on Tuesday.
