Ranchi: Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that corporate social responsibility initiatives would be revamped so as to remove all roadblocks on the way of development.
He was addressing a seminar held on CSR at Hotel BNR Chanakya here today. He said that such seminar would elaborate the basic concept of CSR and remove misconceptions among people on the subject.
He said that several organizations from government and private sectors, Banks, and NGOs had been carrying out CSR activities in the State, however, it ought to be taken into account how far people were getting benefitted out of it.
The CM said that people would be made partners in development process. He rued over the fact that despite being rich in mineral deposits Jharkhand remained poor and its people are still fighting against mal-nourishment. A big segment of population is still living below poverty line which is a matter of great concern, he said.
The CM said that everyone living in the State would have to take responsibility and should contribute in State�s development either through mental or physical labour. With the support of everyone Jharkhand would become a developed State within next five years, he observed.
The CM has announced that the State Government would soon set up a trust for coordinating CSR activities.
Representatives from different organizations would the members of the trust which would draw up blueprint of CSR initiatives, he said. The trust would monitor how much fund is being used and by which company for CSR.
The trust would not have any bank account but would monitor and advice on CSR activities to be carried out by the companies.
