CSIR-NML Jamshedpur launches phase II of PI-CHeCK for Precision Healthcare

Jamshedpur, Aug 24: CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML), Jamshedpur, has launched Phase II of the Phenome India-CSIR Health Cohort Knowledgebase (PI-CHeCK), a flagship initiative aimed at advancing precision medicine and personalized healthcare for the Indian population. The programme began with a multi-day health check-up camp, scheduled from August 23 to 28, involving more than 250 participants, including CSIR-NML employees, pensioners, and their spouses.

The inaugural ceremony took place at the CSIR-NML Agrico residential campus and was formally inaugurated by Dr. Sandip Ghosh Chowdhury, Director of CSIR-NML. Highlighting the significance of the project, Dr. Chowdhury said PI-CHeCK holds great potential in combating lifestyle-related and cardio-metabolic disorders such as diabetes, obesity, and fatty liver disease. “This initiative is a critical step toward building India-specific risk prediction models and enabling customized healthcare interventions,” he noted.

Project Co-coordinator Dr. Ansu J. Kailath, Senior Principal Scientist, outlined the future trajectory of the programme. The dedicated project team includes Dr. Prinka Singh, Dr. Navneet Singh Randhawa, Mr. Sudhakara Rao K., Mr. Roshan Kumar, Dr. Kuldeep Singh Gour, Dr. Nikhil Kumar, and Dr. Krishna Kumar, who are contributing to this initiative of national importance.
