CS reviews Higher, Technical Education and Skill Development Department

Ranchi, Jan. 20: Reviewing the Higher, Technical Education and Skill Development Department, Chief Secretary Raj Bala Verma today said that seats should be increased in the colleges and classes should be run in two shifts in order to educate maximum candidates.

She said that buildings of the colleges should be used to the optimum, Gross Enrolment Ratio should be increased and teaching should be ensured as per choice-based grading system.

The CS said that FICCI, PHD Chamber and CII should be made placement partner for placement of enrolled students.

�Students should be trained in soft skill. Nine polytechnic colleges will be started from next session increasing 2700 seats and in the next year only, nine polytechnics will be opened,� she said.

Verma said that profiling for starting second shift should be done. �The government has targeted to increase 50,000 more seats. The department secretary said that details regarding vacancies against various posts in colleges have been published which includes 1479 post of principals, headmasters, assistant headmasters and university officers.

Post for procurement officers and law officers will be generated in all colleges. NEML, a government of India enterprise will be coordinated for procurement.�

The CS said that academic evaluation of all the colleges and B. Ed. colleges will be done by NAC and work plan should be made for minority educational institutions. She suggested the officials concerned to coordinate with nominated members of senate and conduct meeting for enhancement of universities.

She said that work plan should be made to start MBA in BIT Sindri. A total of 5100 trainees of 109 educational institutions are being trained by 37 service providers and the approval of 54 batches is underway.

All training centers are being linked with Hunar portal. Higher, Technical Education and Skill Development Secretary Ajay Kumar and other officers were present on this occasion, she said.
