Ranchi, Jan 3: A meeting to extend coverage of the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) to rickshaw pullers, rag pickers, mineworkers, sanitation workers, auto rickshaw and taxi drivers was held today at Project Building with Labour Department in presence of the Chief Secretary R.S. Sharma.
Chief Secretary spoke of benefit and facilitates of health insurance coverage to the beneficiaries. He said that the objective of RSBY is to provide protection to BPL households from financial liabilities arising out of illness involving hospitalization.
Chief Secretary directed to scrutiny of the performance of government hospitals carrying out this scheme. He also directed monitoring the Caesarean operations, treatment and medicine availability in the hospitals.
Labor Commissioner Pooja Singhal said that swapping the cards given to the BPL families falling under this scheme entitles to hospitalization by the hospital and insurance company.
The Labour Principal Secretary Vishnu Kumar, Transport Secretary M.R. Meena along with other officials were present at the meeting.
