Ranchi, Oct. 23: Chief Secretary Raj Bala Verma today issued instructions that the proposed roads connecting rural areas with main roads and highways should be started without delay.
She asked the authorities concerned to maintain high quality of work in the road projects and also directed them to conduct weekly review meetings with the contractors.
Verma instructed the officials that road construction should be completed as per schedule. For roads which have not been given NOC from the forest department, the authorities should coordinate with the DFO concerned and get the required approval.
The CS said that work order should be released for all newly proposed roads whose tender was complete and work should be started soon. It should be noted that this year 1500 km roads have been completed against the targeted 3000 km. Moreover, tender for 1700 km rural road has been completed.
Verma said that the departmental secretaries should review the work progress in Dumka, Godda, Bokaro, Giridih, East Singhbhum and Jamtara and submit a report in this regard.
She said that the image of the state was at stake because of rural roads not getting completed in time. She said that the construction agencies showing slackness should be blacklisted immediately.
