CS directs to prepare list of migrants of Jharkhand

Ranchi, July 29: Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma directed to launch a special drive for a fortnight from August 1 to 15 with a view to free Jharkhand from child labor.

Directing all the district labor officers to initiate a special drive in factories, hotels and garages and run legal proceedings on the institutions employing child labour, she said that they can take help from media and collect information through what apps. She said it while reviewing the Labor Exchange, Training and Skill Development Department.

She said that if the officers come across any irregularities regarding child labour, they should crack down upon them. She directed to run special drive at crushers in Dumka, Pakur and Sahebganj to ensure them as child labor free zone and at the same time, directed all the labor superintendents to fix responsibility that children from their areas donít migrate.

Expressing concern over the migration of girl children in Khunti, Gumla and Simdega, she directed to prepare a database of girl children of the all the villages of mentioned districts and make a list of migrated girl children from these villages and find their where about.

Reviewing the economic condition of bidi laborers, the CS directed the officers to conduct a workshop pertaining to their rights and make them aware with a view to ensure minimum wages fixed by the govt. for them.

She said to transfer all the registered cases of underpaid wages of bidi laborers to ALC and take action on them. The department said that 4374 cases of underpayment to bidi laborers have been registered and on investigation, the claim of bidi laborers is found to be correct. 1946 cases have been registered in Sahebganj only. It should be noted that the govt. has fixed wages of Rs. 155.20 to make 1,000 bidis.

The CS directed to hold a state level conference for the workers of un- organized sector so that they can get aware with their rights. She said that the registered laborers should be issued ID card and their complete database should be prepared with their mobile number. The department informed that 80 thousand workers of un- organized sectors have been registered and 11 schemes are being run for them.

She directed to conduct meeting of governing body to speed up skill development and said that ITIs should be equipped with tools and trainers. 54 ITIs are to be started in the state and buildings for them are almost completed.
Senior officers including S. K. G. Rahate were present in the meeting.
