Jamshedpur : Three bike-borne criminals fled with Rs 1.5 lakh after a gun-shot attack on the staff of a fish trader on Road No 2 in TR Type Area near Bistupur mosque under Bistupur Police station Sunday morning.
The victim identified as Shivji Shah sustained bullet injuries on the left thigh and was rushed to Tata Main Hospital where he has been admitted.
Shah, who is a resident of Kadma and used to work as a money collector for the fish trader ShivJee sah, was returning from the Bistupur fish market to his office located inside the mosque on Road No 2, when three bike-borne criminals intercepted him for the loot.
According to sources, the criminals first tried to snatch the bag that Shah (45) was holding, but as he protested, one of the criminals fired two shots in his left thigh and the next moment the trio fled the spot having snatched the bag from his hand.
Sources said Shah was also on a bike and had fallen down after being shot at by the criminals. Later a fellow staff, returned to the spot on hearing the gun-shot, but by that time the three criminals had already disappeared.Shah was soon rushed to Tata Main Hospital.
Officer-in-charge, Bistupur Anuj Kumar confirmed about the loot after gun-shot injuries to a staff of a fish trader at TR Type area.
“We are investigating the incident. The incident took place at 8.30 am when the victim was returning to his office at the Bistupur mosque having collected money from the retail fish dealers. We are trying detect those responsible for the loot,” said Kumar.
The officer-in-charge said that they are trying to identify the three looters by scanning the CCTV footage on the Bistupur Main Road and also from the surveillance cameras installed at some of the shops located in the stretch where the crime has taken place.
“From the initial probe it appears that the criminals must have followed Shah from the fish market and when found an isolated place, attacked him to commit the loot,” said the officer-in-charge.
The staff Rahman said the criminals have taken away the account registrar along with the cash which all were in the bag. Shah’s son Satish said his father had gone to the fish market at 6 am like he would go every day. He said his father was out of danger and had talked to him.
