Criminals extorting money in the name of Akhilesh quizzed

Jamshedpur, May 4: Police today produced three criminals for extorting money and furnitures from a businessman in the name of gangster Akhilesh Singh. Mohammed Akhtar alias Chiku and Mohammed Raju, both residents of Makdampur in Parsudih, and Mohammed Kallu, a resident of Carriage Colony in Burmamines have been nabbed by the police. The police have recovered furniture worth Rs 70,000 from one more accused, Mohammed Salauddin.

The police had registered a case on the basis of an FIR lodged by Jahangir Khan, a resident of Azadnagar in Mango on May 2.

According to police, all those arrested under a contract firm in Burmamines, but one of them, Chiku, who has a criminal record had hatched conspiracy and got the plan executed with the help of the three others.

Addressing a press meet, senior SP, AnoopBirthray said that the complainant of the case, Jahangir has a furniture shop at Bistupur market.

“As per our investigation Chiku demanded the businessman to pay Rs 70,000 in the name of Akhilesh Singh. The victim paid the money in fear. After the demand for cash was met, Chiku asked the victim give furniture. But when the caller demanded more money, then only the victim went over to Azadnagarthana on Wednesday and lodged an FIR against the bearer of the cell number from which the calls were being made.

The police had subsequently swung into action and made the arrest by this morning,” said the senior SP.

The police seized the furniture from Salauddin’s house after the interrogation of Chiku though the accused (Salauddin) managed to escape arrest.

Gangster Akhilesh Singh is presently lodged in Dumka Central Jail.

The police said those arrested had no connection with the gangster and Chiku who is the main accused of the case had used his name.
