Creativity rules XITE Young Journalists Video Competition

Jamshedpur: XITE Gamharia (Autonomous) hosted a vibrant and inspiring event, Young Journalists: Capturing the World through Videos, on 20th September 2024. Organized by the “Sarjan – Literary Club” under the guidance of club heads Dr. Swati Singh and Prof. Anjali Jha, the event aimed to enhance students’ journalistic skills, focusing on the art of video storytelling.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from over 18 student teams, keen to demonstrate their talent and creativity. The audience, comprising more than 80 students and faculty members, witnessed a variety of presentations, all centered on the theme of storytelling through videos. Participants delved into topics ranging from video editing techniques to the ethical responsibilities of modern journalism in the digital age.

Following a competitive round of presentations, the winners were announced: First Place: Amrit & Group – Rising Cost of Living in India, Second Place: Anurag & Group – Indian Elections 2024: India Decides Modi 3.0, But No Majority, Third Place (Tie): Neha & Group – The Dark Side of the Chocolate and Third Place (Tie): Ayushi & Group – Jio Recharge

Dr. (Fr.) Mukti Clarence, SJ, delivered closing remarks, lauding the participants for their creativity and commitment. He emphasized the importance of youth involvement in shaping media today. Fr. Edwin Ritesh Dungdung, SJ, also encouraged the students to continue developing their passion for journalism and storytelling.
