Jamshedpur: In a significant review meeting of the Labour, Employment, Training, and Skill Development Department, District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal directed officials to launch a comprehensive campaign against child labour, ensure strict compliance with labour laws, and accelerate training and employment initiatives for the unemployed based on industry demand.
A review meeting of the Labour , Employment, Training, and Skill Development Department was held at the Collectorate office, chaired by District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal. The meeting focused on training and employment for the unemployed, compliance with labour laws, and launching a comprehensive campaign against child labour .
The District Magistrate instructed officials to take strict action against child labour in the district. He directed the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) to prepare an action plan in coordination with the Law and Order department to combat child labour effectively. The progress of various labour welfare schemes was reviewed, including: Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Scheme,
Construction Workers Safety Kit Scheme, Maternity Assistance Scheme (₹15,000 assistance)
Meritorious Son-Daughter Scholarship Scheme (₹5,000 – ₹50,000 assistance), Funeral Assistance Scheme (₹10,000 assistance), Jharkhand Construction Workers Death Accident Assistance Scheme (₹2-4 lakh assistance), Medical Assistance Scheme, Marriage Assistance Scheme, Pension schemes
Officials were instructed to raise awareness among unorganized sector workers about these schemes to ensure they receive their benefits.
A key discussion focused on training and employment opportunities for the unemployed as per the demand of local companies. The Deputy Commissioner proposed a meeting with CII representatives to create an action plan for matching skill development programs with industry needs. Additionally, instructions were given to organize regular job fairs to provide employment opportunities.
The District Magistrate stressed strict enforcement of labour laws to protect the interests of unorganized sector workers. He emphasized that all workers should receive fair wages and benefits as per legal provisions.
Clear guidelines were issued to speed up labour , employment, training, and skill development initiatives in the district to maximize benefits for workers and unemployed youth.
The meeting was attended by Labour Superintendent Avinash Thakur, Arvind Kumar (District Skill Development Officer), Employment Officers from Jamshedpur and Ghatsila, Factory Inspectors, and other officials.
