Covid vaccination camps in Jamshedpur schools till April 30

Jamshedpur, April 23:  The recent visit of a central team from Delhi, saw the district administration’s hectic preparations to deal with the fourth wave of coronavirus in East Singhbhum has intensified. According to information, the major area of concern was that vaccination of children in the age group of 12-14 years was necessary for they were more at risk in case of the fourth COVID wave arising. This concern was noted to be serious and accordingly, the District Health Department commenced the vaccination campaign from Friday. On the first day, 1,243 children in the age group of 12-14 years were given first and second doses by organizing camps in all Kasturba schools in the district and Chinmaya schools in urban areas. A total of 1,529 children were vaccinated in the entire district. The administration has set a target of completing 70 percent vaccination in the 12-14 age group by April 30, for which, special camps will be organized daily in three schools in the urban area. To strictly implement this move, Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav has written a letter to all the private and government schools in the district. So far only 22.78 percent children in the district have received the first dose of the vaccine.
