Covid-19 treatment be a paid service from December 1 at TMH Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: Tata Main Hospital (TMH) will make Covid-19 treatment a paid service from December 1. The charges will range from Rs 8,000 to 12,000 per day depending among the condition of the patient. From more than six months the hospital has been treating corona positive patients free of cost.

Addressing the media during a telephonic press meet, Dr Rajan Choudhry, advisor, COVID-19, Tata Main Hospital said that the decision has been taken as per the government guidelines. He said that the rate of treatment is also based on the guidelines. The patients admitted at the hospital till November 30 will be given free of cost treatment but from December it will be a paid treatment.

The advisor further informed that the recovery rate at Tata Main Hospital has improved from from 89.20% to 89.36. Till date 3986 COVID positives have been admitted to TMH. On an average one patient is being admitted in the hospital. Moreover in total about 90,000 tests have been conducted at the hospital, out of which RTPCR positivity has dropped 1.25. Similarly, the Rapid Antigen Testing Positivity has dropped to 1.51% this week.

 “While studying the trend of the virus we have found that the impact of the virus has reduced. We need to be careful in the coming days too. The next 10 days are crucial as it will show whether second wave will come or not. However, we need to be careful during next 10 days. We must take precautionary steps to ensure further safety. Avoid crowds, wears masks and maintain distance,”  said the Dr Choudhry.

The prime health hub of Jamshedpur TMH manages a total 1028 beds. Out of these 413 beds are for COVID positive patients, TMH is equipped with 83 ventilators for the critical patients.

He noted: “We have witnessed a rise in cases during August and September but now the situation is static. In order to ensure safety during the coming months it is really very important for people to stay away from the crowd. They should avoid gathering in rituals and celebrate the festival with their family members,” he noted.

Tata Main Hospital ( TMH) also started ‘on demand’ testing comprising RT-PCR, Antigen and Antibody tests. The idea is to give more flexibility and facilitate enhanced ease of testing. The price for RT-PCR test is Rs 1000, Antigen Rs 500 and Antibody test is Rs 250.
