Administration launches massive public awareness campaign against Covid-19
Jamshedpur, July 19: The East Singhbhum district administration on Sunday embarked a massive public awareness campaign against Covid-19. The Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee ( JNAC ), the local urban civic body pressed into service awareness campaign vehicles in areas under its jurisdiction.

Similarly, the other two civic bodies – Mango Notified Area Committee ( MNAC ) and Jugsalai Municipality rolled out awareness vehicles.
Apart from this, an announcement with the help of the public address system was made in Bistupur Sakchi and other markets. An appeal was made to follow the social distancing norms and make use of marks.

Elderly persons and children below 10 years were asked not to venture out of their house as they are the most vulnerable group.

As a part of the awareness creation exercise, the administration has deployed around 50 vehicles with a public address system to inform people of the dos and donts. It has deployed vehicles in the city and the rest of rural areas.

As for the district borders, the deputy commissioner has ordered additional manpower to be deployed at all check posts and samples to be lifted right there. This was the right time for the district administration to take such measures because the number of people arriving from neighbouring districts has increased in the last few days.

As of its harsh steps to curb the spike in the Covid cases, the city police also launched a drive against pillion riders.
“We have announced that from today onward no one will sit a pillion as sitting stuck behind a two-wheeler tends to pave way for the Coronavirus. If anyone has to reach anywhere, either walk down the distance or hire an auto-rickshaw,” said deputy superintendent of police (traffic) Shivendra Kumar.

Kumar said while for the two-wheeler only the rider is allowed with helmet and face-mask, in a four-wheeler and three-wheeler three persons, including the driver are allowed to travel, also wearing the mask.

The traffic police carried out an intense checking drive in the localities which include Jugsalai, Golmuri, Mango, Sakchi and Bistupur since 10 am today and made the pillion-riders to get down from the two wheelers. While implementing the new norms, the cops did not spare even the elderly pillion riders or females as well as children.
