Corona catastrophe: Two deaths, 155 corona positive, Jharkhand tally 3032

Jamshedpur, July 7: Coronavirus cases in Jharkhand have crossed 3000 mark with 155 new cases reported on Tuesday, July 7. With 155 new cases the state tally has risen to 3032.

In Jamshedpur the COVID-19 tally has reached 587. With 58 new cases reported on Tuesday, July 7 the total cases in East Singhbhum district stands at 587. July 7 saw maximum cases being reported in single day in Jamshedpur. Earlier 43 cases came up on May 30 while July 2 recorded 45 cases in a single day.

The district administration spokesperson informed that 58 corona positives have been identified in the East Singhbhum district on Tuesday.

Of the new positives on Tuesday, 7 have travel history while 51 tested positive after coming in contact with other Corona patient. 12 cases came up from Bagbera Naya Basti and all are from one family and relatives. 14 positives are workers of Jugsalai Nagar Parishad and their family members. Nagar Parishad�s City manager, Tax Daroga, sanitation workers and their family members have fallen prey to the virus.

15 Tata Pigments employees who came in contact with their kitadih colleague have tested positive on Tuesday. Two positives have travel history to Bengal while four of family in Sakchi including husband, wife and two kids who returned to Jamshespur after attending a wedding at Durgapur have tested positive. Two persons from PWD Colony who came in contact with a positive from Adarshnagar in Sonari have also fallen prey to the virus on Tuesday.

Earlier on Saturday, 21 positives were reported in Jamshedpur along with two casualties in Sonari and Sakchi area of the Steel City.

Other positives in Jharkhand are from Ranchi 20, Ramgarh 28, Dhanbad 25, Deoghar 3, Garhwa 1, Hazaribagh 6, Koderma 7, Latehar 1, Lohardaga 3, Palamu 2 and Simdega 1 taking the state positive tally to 3032.

According to health department report two corona positive patients from Dhanbad have died on Tuesday, taking the Jharkhand COVID-19 toll to 22. 

With two more person succumbing to coronavirus on Tuesday, the Covid-19 death toll in Jharkhand has gone up to 22.

A 58-year-old man, a resident of Sashtri Nagar of Dhanbad district, breathed his last at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) in Ranchi.

Doctors at the RIMS said that the man was also battling other ailments including sugar and blood pressure and was admitted at RIMS. After the trunet machine twice confirmed that he was Corona positive, he was shifted to Covid-19 ward where he died in course of the treatment

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the state is 892 and fatalities at 22 while 2104 people have recovered and discharged from the hospital. 2142 corona patients tested positive are migrant workers who returned to Jharkhand after May 1.

Earlier on July 4, in a single day the state has recorded its highest number of casualties as four people died due to Coronavirus on Saturday. Out of these 4, two have died in RIMS while two others passed away in Tata Main Hospital in Jamshedpur.

Overall death caused due to Coronavirus in Jharkhand has now increased to 22.

The first case of the pandemic was reported from Hindpiri on March 31, when a 22-year-old Malaysian woman, who had been to Delhi�s Tablighi Jamaat congregation, tested positive. She has since been discharged after being recorded from the dreaded disease. East Singhbhum district accounts for 587 cases out of a total of 3032. The state has imposed lockdown till July 31. Religious places, malls, saloon, spas, schools, colleges will remain closed till July 31.
