Seraikela: Seraikela-Kharsawan police arrested the prime accused of Yakub murder case, identified as Abdul Jabbar alias Jabbar Ansari, after more than nine months of the crime here on Thursday.
The SP of Seraikela-Kharsawan Indrajeet Mahatha said the accused was arrested from Kaliyadungri Chowk early this morning on the basis of a tip-off. He said the accused was wanted in the murder of Mohammad Yakub, son of Noor Bano, a resident of Bali Posi village of Seraikela.
Jabbar, along with his eight unidentified accomplices, had allegedly shot dead Yakub in front of a tailor�s shop near Kaliyadungri Chowk. Jabbar was killed before his mother on 1st January this year.
The SSP said the accused had confessed having killed Yakub to avenge the killing of his brother in-law Banka in the year 2009. Yakub and his aides including one Sarfuddin had allegedly killed Banka, he said.
The SSP said a search was on to nab other killers in both the cases.
