Jamshedpur: City police today claimed to have cracked the case of murder of one Prashanto Chatterjee, a resident of Kasidih, by arresting a man allegedly involved in the crime.
SP rural Shailendra Kumar Sinha said cops solved the case on the basis of an Aadhar card belonging to the arrested accused, identified as Rajesh Thakur, from the crime scene.
“We had found the body of Prashanto Chatterjee under a culvert in Kharia Busti near Baliguma on 17th September last. On interrogating Rajesh Thakur in connection with the recovery of his Aadhar Card, we came to know that he knew the deceased. He confessed his involvement in the killing with the prime accused Chhotu Singh who had long nurtured enmity with the deceased,” said the SP.
Chhotu who had reportedly married Chatterjee’s eldest daughter was reportedly driven away by his father in-law earlier. He later conspired with Rajesh Thakur to kill Chatterjee. Chatterjee was taken to Baliguma to see a rented accommodation for him by Thakur. On the way, Chhotu and Thakur hacked him to death near Baliguma culvert, said the SP.
The SP said that Chhotu had long been planning to take revenge against Chatterjee who did not want to see him.
Cops recovered the death weapon from a nearby tree at the crime scene. An FIR was lodged against Thakur and Chhotu in this connection.
