Jamshedpur: Police here arrested two persons on charges of committing a robbery in a house in Shantinagar, Baridih under Sidhgora police station area in the wee hours of Thursday.
Those arrested were identified as Suraj Lal and Manish Kumar, both residents of Baridih. Cops also seized a country-made pistol and bullets from the possession of the accused persons.
Cops said the accused persons had barged into the house of one Pankaj Singh and taken his family members hostage late night before taking away cash worth Rs 30,000 and gold jewelry. The accused persons took Pankaj and his wife Pinki Devi at gunpoint and asked them to hand over cash and ornaments.
Police have lodged an FIR in this connection. They are searching for other associates of the culprits who planned the crime, said Kartik S, superintendent of police (city).
Police said one Karan Singh, a cousin of Suraj Lal, a resident of Birsanagar, was also involved in the crime. He has escaped with the looted cash, they said.
