Jamshedpur, May 30: Panic gripped Ashoka Hotel in Sakchi on Saturday morning after a hotel cook was found dead inside a bathroom under mysterious circumstances.
The deceased was identified as Appu Pramanik (35), a resident of Midnapur in West Bengal. According to hotel staff, Pramanik had joined the hotel’s kitchen department nearly a month ago and had been working there since.
The incident came to light when fellow employees discovered him lying unconscious inside the bathroom and immediately alerted the management and police. Upon receiving information, a police team reached the spot, conducted a preliminary investigation, and sent the body to MGM Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Hotel employees stated that Pramanik had been suffering from jaundice and was undergoing treatment. Initial suspicion suggests that his health may have suddenly deteriorated, causing him to collapse in the bathroom. However, police have not ruled out any possibility and are awaiting the post-mortem report to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Officials said the circumstances surrounding the death remain unclear, and further investigation is underway. The victim’s family members were informed about the incident and later took the body to their native village after the completion of post-mortem formalities.
