Jamshedpur, Feb. 7: Convoy drivers of Tata Motors have been protesting for minimum wage before the East Singhbhum deputy commissioners office here since the last 15 days.

Finding no response to their agitation, the protestors planned to gherao the Chief Ministers residence in Agrico area in the steel city on Sunday, but the Sakchi police thwarted and arrested the protestors and took them to the police station.

Although the police tried to convince the protesters to withdraw their agitation plan, the latter took strides towards the CMs house. Later, Sakchi police station in-charge Anjani Tiwary along with a large police team arrested convoy drivers including JMM leader Babar Khan, who was leading the protest, and took them to the police station.

JMM leader protested against the police move saying it was a violation of democracy and everyone had the right to stage peaceful protests. There is jungle raj in Jharkhand and anyone who tries to protest is being crushed down by the government. BJP lead state government is giving Tata Steel leeway to use arbitrary means, he alleged.
