Jamshedpur, Oct 15: Harvinder Singh Jamshedpuri, a prominent Sikh intellectual and preacher from Jamshedpur, has raised alarm over the issue of religious conversion in Punjab, labeling it a matter of grave concern. He announced plans to organize a state-level seminar in Jharkhand to discuss the causes and potential solutions to this pressing issue. Speaking on Tuesday, Jamshedpuri revealed that he had consulted Sardar Bhagwan Singh, the head of the Central Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee, regarding the seminar, emphasizing the need for awareness among Sikhs in the state.
During a recent program in Delhi, Jamshedpuri addressed the serious nature of conversion, where he was shown a documentary that included distressing scenes related to the issue. He expressed his frustration and anger at witnessing a conspiracy aimed at transforming a prosperous Punjab into a “Converted Punjab,” suggesting that some individuals are succumbing to conversion out of greed and coercion.
Jamshedpuri stressed the importance of educating Sikhs on this matter, underscoring the responsibility of religious organizations to take immediate action against the rising trend of conversions. He believes that this issue is not just confined to Punjab but is a nationwide problem requiring urgent attention. His commitment to addressing this issue reflects a broader concern for the integrity and identity of the Sikh community.
