Contract workers of Bagjata mines call off strike

Jamshedpur: The gate blockade programme of the contract workers of Bagjata mines in Mosabani came to an end on Thursday. The agitators unanimously decided to call off the strike after getting assurance from Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL) officials regarding re-absorption of workers removed by contract agencies.
As many as 68 workers of two contract companies of Bagjata Mines had gone on an indefinite strike demanding jobs on Tuesday last under the banner of Bagjata Mines Employees Union. Production at the Mines was affected by the agitation.
The agitators included Ram Mardi, Mangla Mahali, Sikandar Tudu, Maheshwar Murmu, Suklal Soren, Shankar Hembram and Kalipado Bhakat.
