Contaminated air leading to pulmonary problems: Dr Vivek Singh

Jamshedpur: Noted Pulmonologist and associate director of Max Smart Super Specialty Hospital Dr Vivek Singh observed that due to pollution level increasing abnormally in the country�s atmospheric conditions, people were being seriously affected.� He said that contaminated air was leading to several pulmonary problems.

Dr Singh stated, �This condition is specially disconcerting in cases of children. Their vital organs needed to combat the foul air that they breathe in, are not fully developed. This also accounts for the weakening of their defense mechanism against infections. They sneeze often and they have breathing problems.�

The eminent Pulmonologist informed that in such cases Pulmonary function tests provided details of how much air the lungs could hold, how fast a person can breathe in and out and the capacity of the lungs to take in oxygen. This test helps to analyze lung diseases also.
