Madninagar: Jharkhand Pradesh Congress President, Rajesh Thakur, has come to the defense of Congress Rajya Sabha MP Dheeraj Sahu amidst the controversy surrounding the recovery of a significant amount of currency from the MP’s hideout. Thakur, while addressing the issue, directed criticism towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging selective intervention based on surnames.
Thakur questioned the Prime Minister’s silence on social media regarding the alleged financial irregularities involving individuals like Nirav Modi and Lalit Modi. He insinuated that the lack of response from the BJP and the Prime Minister in Dheeraj Sahu’s case was due to the absence of the Modi surname, suggesting that Modi is more inclined to save those with his own last name.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the government’s response, Thakur pointed out the absence of statements, tweets, or street protests by BJP leaders. He emphasized the contrasting treatment based on surnames, asserting that the Prime Minister appears more engaged in protecting individuals with the Modi surname.
In a broader context, Thakur highlighted the Congress party’s strong efforts in 14 Lok Sabha constituencies in Jharkhand, expressing confidence in favorable outcomes in the future. Commenting on the state government’s initiatives, he acknowledged the focus on Panchayat-level work to extend benefits to those previously unable to access government schemes.
During his journey from Ranchi to Garhwa, Thakur made a stop at the District Congress office in Medininagar, where he inspected ongoing activities. He extended congratulations to the District President and all party workers for their commendable efforts. The Congress State President’s stance reflects a critical view of the perceived disparities in the handling of corruption cases based on political affiliations and surnames.
