Jamshedpur, Sep 23: Demanding equal bonus pay-out for contract labour of various companies of the district, East Singhbhum Congress Committee members along with several company workers took out a rally from Aambagan in Sakchi which ended with a massive protest at DC office on Tuesday.
During the rally headed by district president Vijay Khan Congressmen shouted slogans in support of their demands. Later they submitted a demand memorandum to DC Dr. Amitabh Kaushal. Earlier in the day hundreds of workers and activists assembled at Aambagan in Sakchi.
Talking to the scribes at DC office, Vijay Khan said district congress committee had written a letter to Deputy Labour Commissioner on September 9 were the District Labour Commissioner has taken the issue related with the workers very seriously.
Khan further informed that labour superintendent (Jamshedpur) Tej Pratap Singh has written a letter to 14 companies including Tata Steel situated in the district and asked for answers to the above issue on September 12 but till Sep 22 the deadline set no reply was made.
Khan added that �Contract workers and labours are directly associated with the profitability and production of the company and complete the work before time so as to meet deadline and in no way they work less than the permanent employees but still they face discrimination and are given away just 8.33 percent bonus comparing it to permanent employees which is very less�.
At the rally Senior Congress Rally Ramashray Prasad, Khagen Chandra Mahato, Usha Singh, Chandana Chatterjee, Tarkeshwar Tiwary, Jammi Bhaskar, Surya Rao, Dhanpat Pandey, Surajkant Nag, ramuday Thakur, Alhan mardi, Nalini Sinha, Suresh Kumar Dhari, Reyazudin Khan along with several contract labours and congress workers were present.
