Seraikela, March 6: Following instructions of Jharkhand Pradesh Congress President Rajesh Thakur, the party leaders and workers across the state staged protests in front of nationalized banks including SBI, Punjab National Bank and LIC of India.
The district Congress led by its Executive President Ambuj Kumar organized strong demonstrations in front of State Bank of India and PNB at Vaidehi Bhawan in Akashvani Chowk. The demonstrations were in demand for investigation into the financial accounts and dealings of the Adani Group. Slogans were raised against the SBI and PNB Management as also against the central government.
During the Congress Party’s demonstration programme, Executive District President Ambuj Kumar said that the banks should review the loans sanctioned to the Adani Group through detailed investigation. He demanded that a detailed inquiry should be conducted by the Joint Parliamentary Committee or the Supreme Court Judges. Ambuj further stated, “The Congress will continue its mass movement till an investigative committee is formed at the national level to look into the financial affairs of the Adani Group. The capitalists abscond after taking huge loans while the general bank customers have to bear the brunt.” The District Congress Executive President pointed out that banks had recently increased the interest rates on loans including home loans. A demand was made to minimize charges levied in lieu of facilities provided including ATM transaction charges, charges for issuing cheque books and SMS charges. A demand was also made to increase the number of employees in banks. The managers of SBI and PNB were called at the protest site and informed about the demands.
