Seraikela, March 6: A Congress delegation led by the party’s District Committee Executive President Ambuj Kumar met Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Ltd (JBVNL) GM Shravan Kumar and appraised him of the power problems being faced by 2,000 families residing in Mirudih Basti at Ward-9 in Adityapur Municipal Corporation area. The delegation rued that power was being supplied through bamboo poles, most of which, were rickety and such conditions were invitations to major mishaps including death. Power consumers in Mirudih Basti are supplied electricity through wires supported on these bamboo poles.
The memorandum that was handed to the JBVNL General Manager further demanded that all bamboo poles that were currently being used to supply power at Mirudih Basti be immediately replaced by concrete poles to safeguard life and property of the residents especially in view of the onset of a period of rain and storm. Congress District Executive President Ambuj Kumar demanded the setting up of at least 200 concrete poles for carrying electricity wires. The delegation informed that all families in Mirudih Basti had installed electric meters in their homes.
Ambuj Kumar said that there were more than 2,000 power connections in Mirudih Basti yet, electricity was being supplied to homes on bamboo poles that was a dangerous mode. Handing over the memorandum to Electrical GM Shravan Kumar, Ambuj Kumar urged that the settlement survey be conducted without delay and the bamboo poles be immediately replaced by concrete ones. The JBVNM GM Shravan Kumar assured the Congress delegation that the Executive Officer would initiate immediate measures for setting up concrete power supply poles as per requirements of Mirudih Basti based on the survey report. To substantiate his assurance the JBVNL GM gave necessary instructions to the AC of the electricity department and EE of Jamshedpur Division in the presence of the delegation.
