Congress organizes protest against Farm Bills in Saraikela

Mail News Service

Saraikela, Dec 5: The Congress party members organized a protest demonstration at the Saraikela Block headquarters demanding rollback of the three Farm Bills formulated by the Centre. They handed a letter addressed to the President of India demanding the roolback of Farm Bills to the BDO for onward submission.

Addressing the members, Congress leader Raj Bagchi said that the central government had introduced the three Farm Bills to throttle the livelihood of farmers. He said, “These three Farm Bills are aimed at satiating the greed of capitalists by trampling the aspirations of farmers of the country. The BJP government forcibly had the Bills passed in both houses of Parliament in spite of allround protest. This reflected the murder of democracy and democratic norms.”

The Congress alleged that the Bills would encourage hoarding and illegal profiteering in the absence of government markets where MSP is fixed to farmers’ profitability. But the three Farm Bills have cut off the prospects of assured Minimum Selling Price (MSP) for farmers, the Congress agitators contended.  The Congress protestors included party leaders Lalbabu Singhdev, Chhotray Kisku, party’s district vice president Ajmal Balkhi and Kailash Mahto besides a large number of party members.
